I'm doing a complete rebuild ona 22re, the problem I'm having is when I went to put the new tensioner on, the old backing plate and oil fitting (the one that looks like a dowel pin) was still in the block. I removed the backing plate easily but the fitting won't budge. Any suggestions?

I was thinking that, or remove the new one and bolt it up

 

Really i was making sure i wasn't fxxxing up, this is my first toyota rebuild, and it's not stock so i'm gun shy. (22re stroker, 94mm pistons, dual row timing set, etc) I can't wait for the head issues.

 

is a dual row timing chain conversion a huge benefit ?

I'm about to rebuild.
