Question When do I change my belts?

I had one belt changed after only 6 months from the date I bought it. It was squeeky and the dealer said it needed to be changed. Now 4 years later and over 100K, how do I know if they should be changed? Is it a time thing or mileage thing like the timing belt or just visual...they look OK. Thanks guys.

I would change them when you change your timing belt or at least every 60K miles. With 100k miles, I would change them real soon.

100,000 miles seems like alot for belts. I would change them pretty soon. I don't plan on letting mine go more than 35,000 miles.

Thanks guys...I guess I have a few belts to change. I usually do most of my own maintainance stuff, is this an easy swap? My Datsuns had one belt, slack the alternator, pull the belt off, put one on, use a bar to put some tension on and tighten up. Do I need one of those belt tensioner things? They are super tight...hehe, don't remind me Lee, I used to have a 30" waist, yup, my belts have gotten a lot bigger, I gave up drilling more holes in 'em.
