Soon to test....5vz-fe revvved up!

Well time is counting to my deadline of pushing the 5vz-fe beyond is 5500rpm redline and deep into 7000-7500rpm range.

Phase 1 Specs:
133,000mile engine
High Volume Oil pump with new toyota water pump
Stock Bottom end (besides what listed above)
Head work-
3angle valve job
S2S 80lbs 5vz valve springs
S2S 272deg N/A Cams
S2S Installed and Tuned Perfect Power XMS Standalone

Some basic mods to help the head flow better have been done, during phase 2 (this fall) the entire engine will be reworked to allow the 5vz to spin at the 9,000rpm goal.

Here are pictures:

(messy shop.... )

That is the N/A engine going into my MR2 by the end of the month....

Then starts:

Engine 2 Specs: (soon to be for now it sleeps)
Same head upgrades minus the valve job and S2S 272 Turbo Cams vs N/A cams.

Garett 60-1 Turbo set a 13psi for the year
44mm Tial Wastegate
Node/MR2 Guru Manifold & Downpipe

S2S Installed and Tuned Perfect Power XMS Standalone

This engine will rev to 6500rpm vs the 7500rpm on the other engine (added stress of the turbo plus the rpm on a stock bottom end could lead to not so good results )

So you can see we are busy busy busy here Testing new waters for the 5vz.

Going to be a FUNNNNN summer! I cant wait to hear those engines fire up and rev that high.

I'll take the MR2's in the background, or just a fully built 3SGTE for my AllTrac please.

Oh.

So what ECU's do you run on your 5VZ-FE swaps into MR2's?

Are you going to run the Supra MAF on that N/A motor?

I am running our Perfect Power Standalone units which makes it possible to cross the redline marker that the stock ecu prevents.
These standalones will soon be plug and play compatible with the 5vz.
The N/A Motor will actually run with no maf instead it will be a MAP sensor.

Yea the 5vz has been done (to the point of started) once before and he is about to finish his second one. There are several other 5vz swaps in the process as well including mine and my customers.

The 3s from my engine was sold and the 5s from customer engine is going on the selling block too.

stockers....
if they cant do the task I will put in the Supra ones...

Im sure they will be jsut fine considering it can handle the airflow of the s/c at 7psi which is = to a lot more airflow then a n/a pump will do.

I will have LOTS of gauges monitering the block oil pressure, temp, fuel pressure, afr (duhh), EGT in both banks.
To name a couple..
Once i get a good and stable tune i will remove most of them .

THe ecu will be setup to read the sensors that i put on the block and quickly jump into limp mode if something is not right. I will even go as far as set it up so during colder engine temps the engine cant rev it passed a certain rpm and as it warms up the redline grows.

Damn, makes me miss my MR2. I sold my 91 SMG Turbo to buy my 97 SR5 4Runner. Oh well, I still have at least one sports car left.
