Installing Speakers to my 4Runner

HI all,

Is anyone out there familiar with these speakers??
Infiniti Kappa 52.5i "5-1/4"
Infiniti Kappa 652.5i "6-3/4"

Are they good quality/sound??? Easy fit??
I have a Pioneer "Premier" DEH-P960MP head unit
and want to make sure they work well.

Please advice,

TIA,

maguirre

They are pretty good speakers. I had them in my previous truck. They are all standard sizes so if thats the size you are replacing they will fit. You might want to check the depth though just to make sure.

The front speakers are 6 1/2 but can also fit 5 1/4. The rear speakers are actually 4". I somehow squeezed in 5 1/4. You have to modify the plastic housing a little in the door panel. There is a ridge on the rear mounting surface which prevents just any 5 1/4 speaker from fitting flush against the surface. The factory speakers are not your run-of-the-mill auto speakers and were obviously designed with the abnormal surface in mind. However, most aftermarket speakers don't take such things into account. The front wasn't so bad, but I still had to use silicone sealant to be sure that there was no air between the speakers and the plastic mounting surface. I think Toyota wanted to make it difficult to replace the factory speakers. Of course, you could just make your own custom mounting surface.

Infinitis are great speakers. Nice smooth sound. They do shine best when partnered with a good quality amplifier.

Sound wise, I think you'll love the Infinitys! I have my truck set up with the previous generation of Kappas on a Pioneer HU, and I have nothing but praise for them.

I just installed some of the 5 1/4" on my fiancee's car, and they sound great, too.

Enjoy!

Good speakers...I put them in my sisters Eclipse....don't have a whole lot of bass....crystal clear high tones and good for voice but I wouldn't recommend them without a sub.....
