Installing Speakers to my 4Runner
HI all,
Is anyone out there familiar with these speakers??
Infiniti Kappa 52.5i "5-1/4"
Infiniti Kappa 652.5i "6-3/4"
Are they good quality/sound??? Easy fit??
I have a Pioneer "Premier" DEH-P960MP head unit
and want to make sure they work well.
Please advice,
TIA,

The front speakers are 6 1/2 but can also fit 5 1/4. The rear speakers are actually 4". I somehow squeezed in 5 1/4. You have to modify the plastic housing a little in the door panel. There is a ridge on the rear mounting surface which prevents just any 5 1/4 speaker from fitting flush against the surface. The factory speakers are not your run-of-the-mill auto speakers and were obviously designed with the abnormal surface in mind. However, most aftermarket speakers don't take such things into account. The front wasn't so bad, but I still had to use silicone sealant to be sure that there was no air between the speakers and the plastic mounting surface. I think Toyota wanted to make it difficult to replace the factory speakers. Of course, you could just make your own custom mounting surface.

Sound wise, I think you'll love the Infinitys! I have my truck set up with the previous generation of Kappas on a Pioneer HU, and I have nothing but praise for them.
I just installed some of the 5 1/4" on my fiancee's car, and they sound great, too.
Enjoy!
