O.K. guys I have done alot of searching but still haven't got any straight answers. I have a 97 SR5 4Runner. I was thinking about getting the Cornfed kit from Burtman. This will be for looks only as I have an 85 as my offroad toy. I would like to hear some opinions on this lift. I am very "green" when it comes to IFS especially lifting one. I do not want to go any higher than the 2.5 / 2 . Would this be O.K.? Does it ride pretty well? Burtman's website said you could run 285/65/16 with no problem but I heard some people saying you could only run 32's ? Any and all help would be appreciated and remember I am not familiar with IFS at all. Some pics of this lift installed on 3rd gens would be great too. Thanks alot

to run 285s...u need modded a-arms or 16.8 with 4.5. and 1" body lift.

 

With the cornfed 3" spacers up front you can fit 285/75/16s on stock wheels with minimal rubbing on the road. This is the setup I have but I am getting rid of it because I don't like having that big of spacer up front, the ride is not so great. There is only a tiny bit of clearance between the upper control arms and the side of the tire, but you should be fine. Mine rub every now and then while wheeling but it has not been a problem. With the stock wheels you will rub the framerail at full lock. Also a few others on here have had some problems with the cornfed 3" spacers. That is too tall of a lift up front and there is a chance you will be tearing some CV boots. Thats what happened to me until I got my TJM and winch.

 

Shotking4 had them, he is running 33's with minimal rubbing, but he goes through cv's about a pair a week, he is changing his front lift because it is too tall.

 

What about the 2.5 ? I don't want to damage anything. Thanks for the help and keep it coming.

 

any lift will place more stress on your cvs... if they are not new, plan on them leaking with even a 1 inch lift, they dont like moving after 6+ years of the same angle, also plan on a diff drop kit like from sonoran steel ...
