I feel like I should know this question, but since these things never go bad I have no idea. I'm working on a 92 4Runner 4WD V6 Automatic. The transmission is bad and I need a junkyard unit. I'm going to get it from torque converter all the way back to the t-case. What years are interchangeable? I'm thinking all 90-95s are interchangeable and probably the 88-89s as well. Could someone chime in here and set me straight?

Thanks for the info. I figured they were all the same model transmission. I'm just wondering if there are any suddle differences between years that make them not a direct swap. For example, silly stuff like wiring harness connectors, cooler lines, etc.

 

I am also trying to replace the tranny in my 95 4runner and I have found a 91 at a wrecking yard. A few shops I have called say that I can't use the 91 tranny in my 95.

What subtle differences, if any, are there that would prevent me from putting the 91 A340H + Tcase in my 95 4runner that also had the A340H? That link above suggests that they are compatible but I am not willing to go through the work unless someone could explicitly confirm this.

Appreciate anything that you guys come up with.
