First I would like to maybe make a point. I think the move to classifying forums based on vehicle generations/runs, etc was a good move overall. It makes things easier for someone like me who has 93 Toyota to know exactly where I am going to talk about things relative to my truck. There is a good chance a topic in the 86-95 board probably has some applicatin or usefullness to my rig in most cases because there are lot of 2nd generation 4runners out there with the same components as myself and a lot of the suspension stuff is the same too.

Having said that the one downfall is that you don't see the cross sharing of information that you used to find when we had one discussion board where a guy who maybe owned a 98 3rd gen 4runner for example, and who was probably a previous owner of a 1st or 2nd gen, chiming in on a 1st or 2nd gen topic, because like all humans he is probably only concentrating now on his current vehicle, his 3rd gen, and staying in the 3rd gen forum. So I would encourage everyone here if you don't already do it (or maybe I'm wrong? Mabye more of you do it than I think) to view other boards asnd maybe offer input if you are a previous owner of a vehicle that might fit into the other discussion forums.

Having said all that, for those of you who have done the Tundra Brake upgrade (calipers, pads, rotors) to your 3rd gen 4runner, the just of what I recall was that it was a relatively easy install but just required some minor shaving of the caliper. Do you think, with the installation of 16" rims on a 89-95 P/U or a 90-95 4runner, that this same swap could be done on these vehicles as well? I mean we all got 6 lugs, wheels are interchangeable, what is stopping you from doing the same brake upgrade?

I highly doubt that this would work, as the knuckles are very different. I never thought of this until now, but you might look into T100 brakes, as they might be bigger.

 

Buy a set of calipers and try it.....you can trail blaze for the 2nd gens.
