Sirius Sportster install location

I got a Sirius Sportster for Christmas and I was wondering if people with Sportsters could share their vehicle mounting locations for it. Specifically 3rd gen 4runners. It comes with the glass suction mount, but I'm not really interested in mounting it to the windshield. Thanks.

youd be surprised how low profile you can keep those things when on the lower left corner of the windsheild with a little elbow grease...

Ill have to take a look at a few dashes, and Ill get back to ya...

ok i dug through our local tech articles looking for pics and found a nice location for ya... Notice that nice big flat spot to the left of the gear shifter - if you can find a ball and socket mount (those units used to come with them - one side would attach to the cradle the other side had super ultra sticky 3M double stick and it was quite adjustable) All ya gotta do is clean the flat spot first with ammonia (to remove armorall) then clean it with alcohol. Once its cleaned up and dry, heat up the double sticky 3M with a heat gun (as well as SLIGHTLY** warming up the area you are going to stick it to) and stick'er down.

Before doing this however look for any and all possible interferinces when you are driving.

**i say slightly because you do not want to get carried away and melt the OEM plastic!

Ya, that was about the best location I came up with also so far. I'll start looking for different mounts.

im installing mine slowly but surely. i have the "XTR8CK Sirius Satellite Plug & Play Radio Receiver and Vehicle Kit"

today i spent my work lunch hr running the wire.... so far, i stuck the magentized antenna on the rear, and ran the wire down and ziptied it through leaving slack for the closing door. ran the wire along the weather stripping down along to the bottom. then ran it side-by-side with my cb wire up to the drivers door. my problem is, i dont think i have enough wire left to run it to where i want it to sit.. up top, in the middle of the dashboard...

anyone know if there is a way to extend the wire (ie a male/female ended extension wire)?
