Knocking, but may not be valves?

Hey I have a 1991 4-runner v-6 and i just did a valve adjustment and i know i did it correctly, but I still have some knocking. It's just not as bad as it used to be. its really bad when started up cold. I check my oil pressure and its fine. I'm gonna start trying premium fuel. If anyone has any clues or advice please help me.

Thank You

if it knocks more loudly when you start it cold its most likely a rod bearing, where on the engine is it the loudest, the valve cover or oil pan?
