all prices are for ONE year.

in TN - 2005:

99 Runner = $92 (added $35 for a "Friends of the Smoky Mountains" tag)
03 3.2 TL = $57
90 Accord = $57

in AL:

(Shelby Co, City of Hoover - 2004)
99 Runner = $252
03 3.2 TL = $290

(Jefferson Co, City of Hoover - 2003)
99 Runner = $284
03 3.2 TL = $396

They go by vehicle weight and if your state has commercial plates.

I pay the wife, so I have no idea, but I bet it's more than the actual cost.

My 4Runner was $116/year. The 01 LuvDub was $144.

You can imagine them when our rates were trippled a while back. Thanks Gray Davis.

In AZ, registration is a function of residual book value. My '71 cruiser cost me $21 last year, and my '96 4R cost about $125. My wife just bought an '06 luxury car - don't even ask

The good news is that in the desert area of AZ, cars don't rot away, so if you are okay with a truck that is a few years old, registration is not too bad ( and by that, I mean comparable to the rest of the country).

Oh well.....

I just paid $34 for one year. I also had to pay $15 this year for an emissions test. Washington state has emissions for some parts of the state. Every other year for vehicles a certain age.

In Vermont, you pay sales tax on the car the first time you register it, then it's $15/year after that.

In NH where I used to live it was a sliding scale based on teh car's value. My Mom's Liberty is over $400/year to register. Live Free or Die my ass.

in AL, you pay a sales tax at the time of purchase that's as low as 3.5% and as high as 5% depending on the city and county taxes. then you have to pay a vehicle registration of $27.50 per year and an annual Ad Valorem tax based on the value of the vehicle.

and its still hard to thank the governator for the repeal. CA is based on purchase price (a gift etc. has a base #) and than an annual depreciation (X a top seceret DMV#)
in sig order $138, $55, $37.
