Anyone have a HU that looks like this?
I am wanting to replace it, and don't want to tear apart the dash to see if and what can be done. By the looks of the outside, it seems not much.

2006 XRunner.
I asked on CustomTacos, and they said there are companies coming out with trim kits, but I was wondering if anyone that has this unit either saw what can be done or has already replaced it.

ok YES metra and scoche are making kits for your truck....it replaces that whole textured dash area and the clock section is removed from the OEM dash piece and put on the new one. Ill get back to you on what the specific kit is tomorrow.
I knew that was a taco the moment I saw that dash, but didnt know it was an XRunner! How do you like it?

Love it. Feel guilty bout not using the 4R as much.
I was hoping you or someone already did one, but this is the next best thing.
The fellas on CustomTacos linked me to the Scosche.
Is the whole piece $50, am I misunderstanding somehing?
You said the clock will be reused, not a problem.
If I can pop out the old and slap this in, I'm sold.

It sounds just like a friends Camry with a JBL system, and the HU is the same.
Then there was a Camry at the dealer that had the HU from my OEM NAV thread.
My 4R was supposed to be premium audio, but it sounded like crapola even with that stock "amp"

The JBL system will have a factory powered subwoofer...if no sub you should be aok...if you have a sub, the factory amp can be bypassed but you may or may not loose your sub.
If there is a CC near you, a met 808113 is the harness for your vehicle. If you have the sub, check to see that the amp remote turn on wire on the 808113 (blue/white) lines up with one of hte wires on the OEM harness. If there is no wire on the OEM harness that lines up with it then you'll loose your sub. If there is you should be able to keep it....
As relayed to me by my manager who has worked on an 05 taco and 05 tundra, both with the JBL system.

Get the Scorshe Kit or AI Kit as I think TacoTunes one is not worth the price.
I am patiently waiting to purchase a D-1 Nav System with that Scorshe faceplace kit, which is expensive.
ARB Bumper will be coming first.

Thanks for the info Bumpin'...
I may wait till Eclipse comes out with a new HU.
Rival... If you do get that kit and tear into it, take some pics if possible, so I know what to expect

.I know the bottom cloth/light indicator is a seperate peice and snaps into the new face place and then new non-oem radio will sit inside of that.
I think Eclipse's new Deck is out, they are selling on Crutchfield I thought?
Give me more details on what you need and let me see what I can come up with.

This should help some here: http://homepage.mac.com/ebones/PhotoAlbum13.html
What I can find so far.
JUst take a thin putty knife, cover the edge with masking or blue painters tape (so it doesn't scratch) and pop out the climate controls. You don't need to remove knobs. There are two small clips holding it in and they won't break. I 've had mine out several times. Once you ge the climat controls off look and you will see the 4 10mm bolt heads holding the head unit in. Remove those and lift out and up to remove it.
What I can find so far.

I am waiting for the next one.. I think the 5435(?) is out now. I want to see what they come out with next.
(When I was buying speakers for the front doors, the guy said that the Eclipse gets really hot with the 20 gig HD)
Tonight is my first night back to work in like 9 weeks since I broke my leg.
I'm kind of excited and nervous.

HOLY CRAP! He's in jail now right? And you did go after him legally I hope.... Deadly force wouldnt be warrented in that situation as you can escape when he was attacking you....but it would be warrented when he was draggin you....damn....glad you and your mom are ok now.
I had a similar situation occur when I was up in Gainesville. Evidentally I was following this guy too closely or following him? (I was using the 2 second rule.) This took place on the rather desolate stretch of road leading to GatorBack....(very windy 2 lane road so i couldnt pass, nor wanted to.) At the stop sign he stopped and I noticed his reverse lights flash and the brake lights go off.... I stop a car length short. He gets out and start yelling and walking towards me. I roll down the window thinking he thought I was following him or something, so I yell, "I live down here you ****ing moron!" Turned the wheel went through the ditch shot around him and down the looooong lime rock road, which btw was 100% bone dry and uber uber dusty. (The stop sign was for a 4way intersection, the paved road makes a left, the straight foward road goes lime rock, thats the one I went down.)
Well that lime rock road is washboard and about 2 miles straight and i dont think he knew it very well - I did. Doing about 85 down that thing was tons of fun...lol He tried to follow, but yeah that wasn't happening at night with a total fog of dust refelcting your headlights. Near the end of the road I killed my lights, slowed with the emergency brake, then drove home with no lights - at night. (100% back unpaved road btw...you WONT find a car back there at that time)
