Question 1990 Interior Question

I have a 90 Runner with sun roof. Next to the button for the roof there is a little compartment that looks that it would hold business cards. What is it really for?

In Japan, it is for holding the little "Highway Cards" that are prepaid toll road cards that you hand to the toll booth guy to pay for toll charges on the freeway.

The holders are gone for the 4th gen models because now they have electronic toll collection devices.

Wow, now I finally know what that is for I've been wondering what that thing is for since the day I bought my 4Runner. I always figured that it was some kind of manual crank for the sun room (I had a similar thing on my first car an '84 VW Rabbit, it had a crank sunroof Although it didn't have the cool little flip door like the 4Runner )

I don't have a sunroof on my '90 Runner so I don't really know how big it is. Could it hold a garage door opener? A lot of cars have a spot for a garage door opener up there somewhere. I dunno.

91Runner's idea make alot of sense though too. Is there is a little screw/bolt or perhaps a small plastic plug covering one up there? I think most cars have a back up way to close the sunroof if the motor goes out or something like that.

Well, have fun.

No way - it barely holds a credit card.

That's what it has - my Celica had that - I actually had to use it once.
