Good oil pressure at idle but drops when rev'd or driving. WHY???

Newly rebuilt 22R (yes, new egnbldr oil pump) and new oil pressure sending unit (napa). On start up and idle (even after warmed) the stock oil pressure gauge (SR5) reads at about 1/3. Whe it's rev'd or driven the pressure drops to the bottom of the gauge. Any ideas?

I'm headibng to AZ to get a cheap mechanical gauge so I can tel the actual pressurel but I'm looking for suggestions on the above and why that may be happening. Will post back the pressure after gauge install.

that is strange, and I would suspect the gauge at first.

must be the gauge!!!

Got me a cheapo Sunpro oil pressure gauge from AZ. At idle it's at 20-24lbs, and goes up to 65-80 when rev'd or rapp'd out in gear. During normaL driving/cruising it stays around 40-45.

Guess I need to rip the gauge cluster out and do some troubleshooting and cleaning.
