Thats it! I have had it with my overheating problems, and its time to take justice, and fix that problem once and for all. Here is my list of what i am gonna do:

1. Flush/clean my old crappy radiator; or replace the whole radiator
2. Replace old thermostat
3. Flush/re-fill my engine coolant to long-life coolant
4. Add in watter-wetter coolant supplement

Is that enough to at least bring my high operating engine temperatures down? Or is there more to it?

I don't know if it helps but I know of a few instances where thermostats can be stuck half-open , not open, installed incorrectly, wrong temp. rating...easy enough to put a new one in

 

I'll vote for the thermostat too, although you may unfortunately be into the area of head gasket replacement as it has gone on this long, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it's only a thermostat at most.

 

As a person very familiar with an over heating 3.0, I'd highly recommend checking the efficiency of your fans -- the fan clutch that drives the main fan at peak temps, and the A/C fan that keeps your condensor cool. Make sure there are no obstructions blocking flow to the radiator, like dead leaves, bugs, cats, etc. While you're servicing the radiator, see how much it would cost to upgrade it from a 2-row to a 3-row. Well worth the money if you can get a good deal. The water wetter works best in a distilled water combo. Check other threads for the exact mix, but I think it's 50/50.

I'll second the fan clutch and small electric fan. They both have to be working properly. I had to put a new fan clutch in my Runner and that made a big difference.

 

Can i flush and clean my old radiator out by just spraying water into the radiator? Or should i just replace the whole thing, i don't wanna spend to much dollhairs on a new one.

Fan clutch and fan are working fine right now, could be the old radioator and/or the thermostst.

 

your water pump could be failing

 

Water pump is brad new, i replaced it a few thousand miles back. My radiator could be crapping out on me, or a stuck-open thermostat.
