12" Alpines don't fit in 12" bandpass enc...
Hey,
Dad here trying to figure out if we've been had. Son bought a Bear Mountain bandpass enclosure to house 2 - SWR1242D Alpines. The enclosure is only 6" deep and these woofs are 8" deep. You guessed it, can't fit a round 8" long peg in a 6" hole. After looking on website, I can't find anywhere that says the depth of encloseure.
Any ideas are appreciated.
Jeff

well, sorry to say you havent been had, you just didnt double check fit before ordering, I say get a diff box, or get some 12's that arent as deep.
I guess you could mount them backwards, but im not sure if it will work that way or if you would be willing to do that, im sure if bumpin yota reads this he can chime in a WHOLE lot more then I can.

You have a couple of options actually....
If you dont mind the look you can make a set of 2" thick MDF baffle ring to take up the difference in space... This may or may not work pending the desing of the box...
Like wimpywade94 said, if the box allows it, you could also invert mount the subs.
Your last option is to either swap the box (recommended) or subs. I'd imagine they'd refund you 100% on the box so long as there are no screw holes in it.... Personally I'd do vented over bandpass anyday.
