I recently purchased a 1991 4runner from Arizona. It has a 3.0 litter engine. That has been rebuilt. Since I live in Wisconsin the rust belt of the north, This is a great find. I am planning on a solid axle conversion in the front. My question is I would like more power out of the stock engine. Weather it be headers cams etc. Can anyone tell me what type of power increase headers will do for a 3.slow. Also I have done a K&N filter and eliminated the stock air resistor tube and added a high flow cat. I did see some increase. Also my mileage in town is 15-16 mpg.

after being here for awhile and seeing what I myself and others have to done to the 3.0, heres my opinion. Drive the 3.0 untill it won't drive anymore, or pull it and sell it, and do the 3.4 swap, I know I would have been happier in the end, and I think you will be to. Just my .02

I also purchase a 1998 4runner for my wife. It has the 3.0 and we both love it.
Maybe I should lose control this winter, and then do the swap LOL

2003mikem, I'm afraid there isn't a lot to do to gain more power. you could do a search here along the lines of (3.0 build) and may find a few more small power gains, in fact there was a post a while ago by Cebby outlining a build. The 3.0 may not be the quickest but it hasn't let me down either. Welcome 2003mikem nice to see another Fox Valley Yotatecher join the group.
