Issue with A/C not turning off (I think)

I swear that my A/C does not turn off. With the button pressed there is no difference in temp than with the button not pressed. Also, I listen at idle and do not hear the A/C turn on/off all the time. Every now and then it does turn off and on, and I can hear it. However, recently, I do not hear, nor notice the A/C turning off.

#1: Where is there a place that I can check this with my mulitmeter to verify this

#2: Other than taking it to Toyota, what should I do about this?

#3: Anyone else have this issue?

You don't give a whole lot of info but I can tell you this. If You have your dial set to any of the defrost possitions it will run the air conditioner even if you don't have the button pushed. If you set your vent button to direct air on you or your feet or both it will not run the air unless you turn it on.
The air running with the defrost helps to clear up the windows much faster so it comes on automaticly when set to defrost possitions. Don't know if this helps or not but it is a common problem several others have stated the same problem until they found out how it really works, Mike

Ding ding ding, we have a winner!

Thanks man, I didn't know that having it set to the defrost button did that. I always have it set on that. So that explains why it always feels like the A/C is on.

Well, now I'll enjoy some better gas mileage, as slight as it is.

David, I drove my 01 Tacoma around for year with it on before someone told me about it. Guess we should read our owners manual a little better. Na, That would be like trying to put something togeather after reading the instructions, It takes all the fun out of the project,Lol. Mike
