New heart on the way

Well,I just got off the phone with my machinest and my 22re is being built.It's costing me 1,550 but that includes a bored block,New AMC head,ARP studs,turbo valves,"stage II torquer cam",Keith Black pistons,new oil pump,timing set with metal guides.I also just bought a new Thorley tri-y header to replace my pacesetter.My truck should be a strong runner after this.How much of a difference should I see?

"How much of a difference should I see?"..., you're kidding, right ?!

How does a 180* difference sound to you ?

Just make sure that you get a "three angle valve grind" and have that head ported (they can match port off of the header if you drop it off there), polished and shaved and step up to a larger diameter exhaust to open it up to breathe and boost the compression (I'd have them plane/deck the block as well) so that you can really make use of that cam!!!!

Just remember to not get sucked in by the increased HP and tromp on it before the "break in" period has passed.

He said he's sticking in some turbo valves.I think he is doing the valve job too.

'Turbo Valves" are merely a higher grade of valves, one's tempered to withstand the extra heat and have a little more diameter for flow, but that does'nt mean that he's grinding out the valve channel or what have you.

Woof! Are you running the Baja 2000 this year or something? Sounds like it's going to be a killer motor. Now you have to make sure the transmission and drive train can handle the loads, and that the tires and suspension can transfer all that power to teh ground...

Oh yeah, while they're in there (the block), have them "knife-edge"/balance the crank so that everything will be running smmoootttthhhhh.

He balances and blueprints all his motors.I was going to go with the stroker for 2,800 but I figured that extra cash could be spent on other things.I am also ordering a new carpet kit and a bunch of other stuff.This poor truck has been on the back burner for the last 3 years so it's time to give her the good stuff.It's always been the most reliable vehicle I've ever had.

Nice looking truck I like the red interior. Are those hubs the ones that came from the factory? Mine don't look like that, is why I ask. Do your's work better than factory if they're not? Just being nosey...

Nice looking countryside too. I really REALLY miss home...

And I HATE YUMA!!!!!!!!!

They're Milemarker hubs,cost I think 100 bucks at Summit Racing.They work great.I had them installed when I first got them as I didn't have time to do it and they installed them wrong so one of the nuts on the inside kept coming lose so I fixed that and I haven't had a problem since.
We are swapping out to black/grey interior soon.Too much maroon,carpet,seats,dash,everything!

Should I buy a new set of injectors too?I haven't seen any sign of the old ones going out,could use new seals but they run well.I found a set from lc engineering for 200,I don't know what it would cost to have mine cleaned.

Only if you're going to oversized injectors and you won't mind the mileage loss.

Other than that, you can clean the injectors yourself and change out the "O" rings as well..., there's been a post or two about this if you do a "Search" for them.

It runs great now.There is a major torque difference and it revs nicely.I can't wait to get it broken in.It idles smooth but you can tell there is a cam in there.I need to pull the intake sooner or later and paint it.
