Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I have trans gauge wired but not mounted yet. Looking to mount on A-pillar in my 96 4Runner. Have looked at a number of A-pillar gauge holders but don't know if any particular brand is better than another. All seem to come black and need to be painted. Anyone have experience with different brands and how well they fit around the pillar? Also, if you painted the black to match interior color, what kind of paint did you use. thanks

 

How was the tranny temp gauge install? I'm doing one tonight along with oil pressure, temp, and voltage. I've got 300 dollars wrapped up in autometer gauges.
Phew....can't wait to get them in my taco.
Oh, I used the standard aluminum horizontal aluminum mounts mfg by Jegs. These look sweet in a truck but probably don't fit too well in a runner. Anyway take it easy.

Hi Chad,
I took a trip to NH for a wedding and stopped by IPT in New Jersey for the throttle body mod. Had them flush the trans as well and install a sending block in the trans line so all I would have to do is the electrical hookup. I need to get an A-pillar gauge mount before I do the final install. I wanted the setup to look like part of the car thats why I didn't go with the aluminum mounts. By the way, John and the guys at IPT were great. They got me in and out in half a day so I could get on the road in time to get to the wedding. Thanks for the reply

I think the TRD one will work too. If you can find one of those, they look pretty good. I have one for my boost gauge.

Bob, took a look at their site and saw only a universal for single gauge. Did you get the universal and if so, how good a fit was it?

 

Get a 2 gauge! You'll find something to stick in there! It's available in Black, or Gray & Oak for an additional $7.99.

Dwa, it seems you got setup rather quickly. Nice to know some shops are still doing good work. Anyhow I stilll haven't got to my 300 dollars worth of autometer gauges yet, as I've been working 12 hour days and cleaning the garage in the evenings. I read all these "build up" threads, and mod threads and have been thinking of maybe taking some pics of all my gauge installs and contributing them to yotatech. We'll see what happens. I'm currently without my yota She'll be up and running as soon as I dedicate a day to finish her.

i looks like it blends in pretty good, am i right? or in retrospect would black have been a better choice?

Where I got mine for my 85. Top notch product and service IMO.

 

My interior is gray with alittle bluish gray on some areas.. I was considering black also since my Runner is all black on the outside-- but the gray matched much better even though the color isn't exact... Black would have thrown it way off-- having a black pillar on the drivers side and a gray one on the passenger-- would stick out like a sore thumb...

 

With Krylon fusion paint you can paint them any color you want....this one was plain old gray when I got it.



Painted the other side to match...pwurfekt!

 

Got mine from Guage pods too. I have the oak color in my 2000. I have the Carbon Fiber Auto meter Oil Pressure and Boost gauges on the pillar.
