the paintjob is real nice, so is the turbo. wouldn't spend that much on a paintjob though just to get it all scratched up offroading, and also i'd rather get a supercharger for much cheaper. but if he keeps it on the road all the time, real nice truck. i wouldn't mind seeing some pics of seats.

So superchargers are cheaper? is that always the case? I had an arguement with him that turbos are cheaper. Its in dundalk maryland. Near baltimore. Yeah he doesn't go offroading with it...even though i think he should lol, but doing that with a turbo would be kinda wierd.

hey great looking turbo install ... can you give any more details on it? what's the trim on that turbo? the a/r? what kinda wastegate? what boost setting (looks like its got an avc-r boost controller but what's the wastegate PSI set for and what does it actually run)? is it intercooled at all? any other mods?
sorry for all the questions, i'd just like to compare notes since i'm about to go in for my turbo install on my 3rz.
great looking truck tho

Yes it has an intercooler. He got it installed though so he doesn't know any of this stuff. He got it installed by

That looks like a real nice set up, except for one thing. Look at where the air filter is. It is right next to the turbo its self. Nothing like getting the hottest air possible.
If they would have run that induction tube out through the hole in the finder wall where the stock box draws from and then down and to the bumper area there is plenty of room to install a filter and they would be drawing in the coolest air possible.

Okay, well, since you did ask for an opinion...
I like the turbo. I'd really like to see a dyno slip. Also, for $6,000, did that include internal modifications (pistons, rods, crank or valve train?) If so, that's not a bad deal. If it didn't, OUCH! LC Engineering is making (or has made) a turbo kit for the 2RZ/3RZ engines. When I was researching them, they cost $2,450.00.
As for the paint, it was lookin' real sharp until they added the flame. It's just my opinion, flames fit Detroit steel hot rods better than imprt trucks. Just my opinion, though.
Over all, it's a cool looking truck!

I definitely like the idea of a turbo better than a supercharger.
IMO for off-road, the supercharger would win due to it's low end ( superchargers tend to help more in the high end due to being driven off the exhaust).
The only question I have is why would he spend so much money making a 4cyl put out 250 HP? If it is for hobby sake, that's cool, but a V6 and a supercharger are about $4000 which = $2000 for other mods.
Don't get me wrong, your truck is very nice and clean looking.

I agree that the $6,000 is a bit steep for a turbo setup.
A Garrett T3/T4 turbo, Tial 35mm wastegate, Blitz SS BOV, Blitz dual turbo timer, custom exhaust manifold, custom intercooler, all the IC piping/hoses needed, a 255lph fuel pump, adjustable FMU, air intake, three dyno runs and installation is costing me only $3,500.
This is much more affordable when considering the 2RZ/3RZ supercharger is $3,000. EL Prototypes has a T3 kit for $2,500 also that's worth checking out.
This is definately for hobby's sake for me. That and I miss my 300zx

As for the hobby part, I never really understood all of those civic ricer owners until I started to do some more serious work on my 4Runner. This stuff can really be fun.
I was the kid that always took apart perfectly good working things and put them back together in the same manner.
