What size speakers fit in 89 4Runner?

Believe the fronts are 4", but can't find any info on the rears. Will some 6x9's fit back there somewhere? Thank you.

i have 6x9s but they dont have a real mount to them...i cut into the plastic between the roll bar poles.

Than i put dynamat on the inside of the panel... (NOT easy or fun to do) and made some wooden mounts for the speakers that go on the inside of the panel...

it worked out nicely...im running alpine type r 6x9s each getting 60watts RMS from my kenwood amp

mhmm... my friend has an 89 i think. he has some JL Audio 6x9s that he put in boxes, and then cut into the plastic, might be a little easier than the first suggestion...

The original speakers are 5 1/4.... I have made brackets for 6.5's to fit where the 5.25's went... still have them, but didn't like the sound of them. I then proceeded to make metal brackets for my 6x9's that i have now. all you need is a piece of sheet metal, and modify it.... I can walk you through it, or i can probably send you a template and some pictures... just let me know.

Edited to add: Guess I'm putting the cart before the horse. Just excited about the truck.

you mean the horse is in front of the cart? I can understand your excitement... If you want some more info on that later, when you start it, give a yell.

Roger that................I did talk to Crutchfield and they said it would be hard to get some big speakers mounted up in the rear of the 4Runner. He did mention boxing some 6x9's up, which I thought would be easy to do.

hmm that sounds like a good idea..i might box up my 6x9's and cut a bigger hole in the side panels and just make a bracket of some kind to keep them there

I made a bracket to hold my replacement 5 1/4 speakers. In retrospect I should have just upgraded to 6x9's but I orderd the speakers before I knew I'd have to fab the bracket

Notice the tabs on the top and bottom the bracket bolts to.

Erich, I did the same thing you did. I made a bracket for some 5 1/4's, then decided I should have just went with 6x9's. I yanked out the 5 1/4's, made some new brackets and put the 6x9's in. Much happier now!
