i will maybe be buying a 2000-2003 access cab tundra with the v8. is there some genetic problems to look out for when purchasing? is there any big sheduled maintainences around 85k miles?

There really arent any major areas of concern on the Tundras. I would look under the truck and make sure there isnt a lot of rust. A little bit is OK but if its scaled-on rust thats too much.
Other than that, listed for weird noises when you test drive it but overall the Tundras are very solid trucks.

Timing Belt at 90K. Check to see if any Brake TSB's have been performed.

Aren't the ball joints being recalled on some model years? Might want to check if it was done or applies to the year you are buying.

bought my tundra a little over a year ago and i have only had to do some regular maintenace to it, planning on doing the brakes soon but i'm sitting at 130000 and i don't think they have ever been done before.

but by far it is the best truck i have ever owned, i have put it thru alot and never had a problem with it, the next truck i buy will be another tundra hands down.
