I know my T100 is supposed to use 87 octane, but I read somewhere that 85 is OK in higher altitude (Denver/Boulder)because of the thinner air. I've been using 85 cause its cheaper and don't want to screw my motor in the long run. As far as hearing an engine knock, which I don't think I do, what are some less obvious signs?
thanks

Check your spark plugs. Look up a chart on the net and compare the condition of your plugs to the chart.
At that altitude and with 85 I am betting you are fine. However, that also depends on the condition of your engine, etc. Lots of variables which make it hard to say for sure.
I have used 85 on trips up there and had no problems.
