2q's idle smoke and high milage additive

hey all. i got two quickies for ya'll. these are centered around a 86 truck, 22re, 217k miles, 4x, 5spd. i finally had to replace the alternator due to "accessive oil slangin" from the bad front seal. a prob i fixed when i got the truck last year. i noticed a problem when i was letting the battery charge. with the truck idling for about 15 minutes, i got in to move it and when i rev'd the engine i noticed a far amount of smoke. the dreaded blue smoke. i know it's oil and i'd expect this truck to have a couple of oil consumption probs ( wasn't taken care of before i bought it), but why doesn't it smoke all the time? does it collect in the cylinders and blow it all out when i rev it? hmmmm kinda stupid q i know. hehe
second......... what's the fave additive around here for high milage vehicles? like restore or something like that. other than adding new rings and seal kit and such.......hehe

thanx!!!!

I have used Restore and noticed no differences. I have tried a few others as well, all with not much improvement. The best oil additive, in my opinion, is Lucas. Also, try adding the Lucas gas additive. I have used both for awhile now and have noticed some pinging and smoke has gone away, but these aren't fixes to your problem. You will most likely have to get new seals and rings, etc.

Hope this helps! Good Luck!
