Low fuel light comes on and flickers randomly!!!

Low fuel light comes on and flickers randomly!!!
Anybody ever have the low fuel light come on randomly and start to flicker? This is happening in my 98 4runner limited. It is driveing me NUTS 
Someone please tell me if there is a sender or senser that I can fix this with, or am I going to have to rip the light bulb out of there? Thanks

Doesn't matter if it is a full tank or empty, just comes on whenever, flickers for a while, turns off!

check for a short to ground on the bulb side. there also may be a problem in the fuel pump float assy
