Tune Up cost?
I wanted to know what you guys think? I am ready for my 90,000 mile tune up and usually take it to this guy that runs his own shop and has done most of my regular maintiance for my rig. He quoted my around $1000 to do the tune up.
So, I went to the local dealership and they said about $700.
Does anyone have any thoughts about how much this should cost me?
Thanks

Should cost ya about $200.
$40 New fuel filter
$24 New Denso spark plugs
$04 Antiseize
$99 Craftsman socket & wrench kit.
I don't replace everything they do on schedule, but I do check the systems out. Check your hoses and belts. Filters, brake & clutch fluid, ATF, power steering and radiator. It's a good idea to throw in a bottle of Preston water pump lubricant/corrosion preventer.
Replace the plugs, but always be careful to not overtighten them...that's aluminum you're screwin' them into. Use antiseize on the threads. And definitely replace the fuel filter...You may need to buy another couple of wrenches to do that one.
You might even find a friend that does his own wrenching and have him help you. Once you do it and you realize how much the dealer is makin' off you, you'll be doing more of it.
It ain't how much money you make, it's how much money you keep.
