How long Bils supposed to last?

I replaced my stock shocks with Bilsteins right after getting my Runner 3 years ago. I have around 35K on them. One of my front ones looks like it's leaking oil. I'm thinking they are due to be replaced. Anyone know of any kind of interval on Bils? I know with shocks you don't really ever know they are bad because they go so slow.

I recently replaced my OEM shocks with 100K on them with new Bilsteins a few months ago and the new Bils show well over 100K for longevity. I have the Heavy Duty ones although I'm not sure if they make anything other than the Heavy Duty style.

With only 35K on them you may want to contact the place you bought them from or Bilstein directly as you should be able to get more out of them than 35K for sure even if they're not HD.

That's what I was thinking. For 60 bucks a piece you'd think they would last quite a while.

Mine have a lifetime warranty on them. I think 35K is pretty early for them to fail.

As Glenn said, lifetime warranty on Bils. I have had mine on for over 50K with no problems at all.

It's not uncommon for Bils to go 300k and still damp within spec. Perhaps less if the rods are covered in mud all the time, but still 100-150k should be easy. The only thing to worry about is if something nicked the rod, sometimes they call that "not a defect" but usually they don't even question it (or anything) and just give you a replacement.

My Bil's have way over 35K and the only problem is one of the front ones needs a new bushing.

I put over 190k on a set of HDs, and they were still going strong when I sold the truck 4 months ago

The ride is still fine but that one shock is pissing oil out of it. I bought them when I was overseas from Central 4WD. I dont' know if I still have the paperwork or not. Might have to see what they will do for me.

Or you could try Bilstein direct if you can't find the Central paperwork. Maybe they would take care of you.

I have returned several things to Central4WD and they were terrific to deal with. If not, go straight to Bil like <96 Runner> said.

I've had my bils on for about 3 years and I think the fronts are going bad. It bounces and dips like crazy when I brake.

Most likely the shocks?
