HELP!! 3.0 V6 clicking noise

Drivin' down I-5 today, and engine started to make loud clicking noise. Pulled over to check things out, and engine clicks continuously, gets louder when accelerating. Clicking seems to be coming from left side of the engine bay. After pulling back into my driveway, the clicking is less, but still noticeable at idle. Anyone out there know what it might be?

Sounds like something related to the valves on that side. That's where I would start.

i dont think the valves would be that loud. i had the same problem, it seems to go away every once in a while, or maybe thats just cuzi have my music turned up lol... on my car i believe the louder clicking noise is coming from the power steering pump. i also had my valves clicking too, went to autozone and bought some stuff that "quiets noisey lifters" it was two bucks, i dont hear my lifters clicking anymore, although i believe my power steering pump still does... its been in the shop for a couple of weeks.... waiting for my pay check to afford the 700 dollar smack in the face from my MAF :pat:

A trick to finding the origin of a noise is to get a small plastic tube, about 2-3 feet long and stick one end in your ear. Move the other end around the engine and the noise will get louder the closer you are to it. Be careful that you don't stick your hand in any moving parts or something.

the noise is very loud, almost sounds like I have an automatic weapon strapped under the hood. Very weird that it all of a sudden happened today. Sounds like I am starting up a tractor. It's real bad with the flowmaster exhaust. If it is the valves or something else major, anyone out there know of a good place in Seattle to take it, preferably one who doesn't just want my wallet?
