valve cover seal

Hello,

My 95 v-6 runner is leaking oil. Not alot, but enough to leave alot of stains all over driveway. I tighten up up bolts, but it really hasn't helped. What would it take for me to replace them, or how much would it cost to get it done., ballpark. Does it really need to be done?

thanks,
Joe

Must be a big leak if oil from your valve covers is landing on the driveway...sure it's not your oilpan? Remove the skidplate, give the bottomside and your motor a good degreasing and cleaning. That helps to spot where your leak is coming from. If you have a 5 speed, could even be your tranny seals. Some types of gaskets will leak more if overtightened. Torque to spec only. Depending on where your leak is, the cost will be cheaper if you can do it yourself, or more if it goes to a shop. Oil leaks should always be checked out and fixed...it is your engines blood. Good luck.

Don't forget your front and rear main seal. My rear went out and lubed my cutch really well.
