TRD Air Filter Whistling

I got my TRD air filter last night and installed it. This morning on the way to work I noticed a whistling sound when I accelerated. Is this normal? Before when I just had the Deckplate mod with factory air filter...it just sounded louder...but the TRD has a whistling sound. I got the TRD because its a Toyota part.

Perhaps I didn't put it in correctly. All I did was take out the old. Put the new one ine with the folds facing the front of the truck and did not push the filter into the compartment since it wouldn't allow any more movement.

It should fit perfectly into the airbox. That may be causing your problem.

I flipped the filter around and there is no whistling but it just sounds like the A/C kicking on noise when I accelerate. The OEM filter you had to put in at an angle and push in snug to lock but the TRD filter's outside lining is too fat to push and lock. Have I got in correctly or do I need to push it into the groves?

What's the best filter for your money?

How does everyone find the trd filter? Is it better than the K&N? Is there any performance gain? Are they the same style as the K&N(cotton gauze or foam)? I priced them out here in Canada and they definately are the most expensive. Almost double the price of a K&N. I don't mind if it is worth the difference. I do like to stick with Toyota parts. Whats your opinion on them?
