Viper vs. Clifford remote start and alarm systems?

Okay it's really cold here(20s) don't laugh you guys further north and in Canada, I know it's prolly negetive something there. But I'm begining to miss my remote start I had on myfirst 96' Runner, best gift I ever gave myself. I want a serious upgrade from that system though, I'm looking at 2way systems with an alarm and remote start.

What is your experiances and opinions on Viper systems and Clifford systems, I'm looking hard at the Viper 791XV but would like some input as to which company has the better set-up and reliability, I don't mind paying more for quality which ever that is.

All input is welcome and encouraged. Merry almost Christmas everyone. :xmas3:

There is NO difference...

NONE between the 2Ways... They are both made by DEI. I have a clifford unit and a Viper fob.

Not sure about the non-two ways though I woulnd't imagine them to be much differnet.

Yep, all made by the old car audio guys at DEI. I'm putting a Python in the 85 in a couple weeks. Just your basic alarm and adding door lock actuators with some motion sensing/glass breakage...under $300 installed.

Check out the commando, me and a few other guys are looking at getting that. It's cheaper and I've heard good things. Do a search. MERRY XMAS!

Cool deal, thanks guys. Kinda nice that the two first to respond were you two. I think I'm gona go with the Viper, there are some good deal out for that system. Right around $200-$250, and I figured with an open day, a sauder gun, and a buddy of mine I can do the install myself. That is all in theory of course, once I take a look at the install instructions things might change.

I just did the viper 790xv the otehr day and so far am loving it since it starting to get cold again. I got lucky for a 50+ temp. day so I decide Its been sitting in the back of the truck to long go put it in. Took me about 4 hours and that was me re-verifying the connections with the meter prior to splicing into it. As everyone has said alot of its all made by DEI now.

After seeing the wiring harness I decided I wasn't that commited... Though, I have a buddy with an audio shop so that was a no brainer. If you want I'll ask him if I can get any sort of deal for you, he sells the vipers...

A friend of mine and I are going down to savannah on mon or tues to get systems put in her car and I'm getting a new sub since some dumb _____ in atl decided he wanted mine more than I did. I can't wait! I'll ask him then if you want. Don't think they are open on christmas day but if you want it sooner I could call him also.

Austin, sorry to hear about your sub getting jacked. Crazy people just take what they want, oh well maybe he "needed" it mroe than you did, Merry Christmas to him.

But if you would ask your buddy while your down there that would be great. Some of these internet prices are great but I'm not always that secure about some of these sites. So just see what you can do and we'll go from there, it'll be awhile before I'm ready for it financially, so there's no real hurry. Thanks man, Merry Christmas.

Ok,
Got the new P3 put in and wow, I need more amp but it sounds so much better/deeper.

About the alarms-
He currently has two different offerings of the same thing. He has a brand called Valet that is also made by DEI and is identical to the Viper/Clifford except it comes with an extra remote. If you'd rather have the Viper that is fine too, they are the same price. The price for the remotestart alarm is $200 and with the 2-Way its $250. Let me know if you guys are still interested.

Take a look at the pics in my signature and see if you feel like doing it.
I didn't think it was too hard but that is just me tho.

I have a DEI 2-way on my 4Runner and a DEI 1-way on my Camry. Both have remote start. The 4Runner has more sensors (Invisibeam radar, motion, tilt, etc). I had a trunk release solenoid installed on the Camry just for convenience. I also have a keyed hood-lock on the 4Runner. It places a pin in the hood latch that it disabled by a cylinder lock I have hidden inside the truck. If someone tries to forcibly open the hood, the hood lock and pin switch activate the siren.

By the way, I have a buddy that sells DEI alarms. He'll cut me a decent price. Though, sometimes it's still cheaper to shop around and buy a package deal with the alarm and installation than buying the alarm seperate and having someone install it. Unless you happen to know someone who will work for beer
PM me and I can at least get you a price on the parts if you want.
