I did a fairly decent job of installing my amps a few months ago but the wiring isn't as clean as I'd like and really bothers me. They're mounted to the back of the driver's side rear seat with the wires/cables arranged as neatly as I could without resorting to wire loom, zip ties, or staples. I want to either run everything under the carpet on the back of the seat or add a false back made of MDF and possibly route out the back side to give the cables a trough to run through.

However, I'm not sure exactly what holds the carpet to the back of the seat. Is it a press fit using plastic tabs like the rest of the interior panels? Or is it glued on or something? I don't want to pry the carpet off and find out I can't put it back on without duct tape.

 

on the 3rd gens its held in by plastic pop screws. Just carefully pry it open using a pannel puller and a couple of firm pulls

 

Kevin, not sure if the 3rd gens are exactly like the 2nd gen ones, but I have had the back of my seats off many a time.

As Kahuna said, they are held on with the plastic push/pull screws.
All my wiring is in behind the amps, and then exits under the seat backs.

It is very stealth, and you can not see any of the wiring with the seats.

 

That's exactly what I have in mind. Mine won't be quite as clean though, since my amps don't have the wiring covers that your Rockfords do.
