Question on changing tire size on my 04 4runner?
Just a quick question for someone. I currently have 265/65-17 tires on my 04 4runner and have been trying to purchase new tires that are better in the rain and snow. There's not really a big problem finding good tires, but finding them in my exact size has been.
REvo's are out because I can't find them anywhere, and the other tires I'm considering are Michelin LTX-MS or the Toyo Open Country. I have run both of these tires in the past four years on an older 4runner and found either of them to be great tires. However, neither one seems to be made in my exact size so I was considering either a 265/70-17 or a 275/60-17, which gives me a little more to choose from in selecting a tire.
My question is what would be the best tire for me to use without throwing my 4runner into other dimensions? Any advice is very much appreciated

No, Tire Rack can't get them right now. At least in the size I want. 265/65-17.
At first the delivery date was 11-16-04, now its mid-to-late December 2004. Believe me, I've been all over the net and to every dealer in my area for the last three weeks and no has my preferred size tire or the ability to get them before December 20 or later.
This is why I'm inquiring into one of the two other sizes. Tire Rack does have the 265/70-17 in stock, but I'm not sure I want a 70 series tire.

either size will be fine as they arent too different from the stock size...
265/65/17 = 30.6" diameter, 10.4" section width, 6.8" section height (stock)
265/70/17 = 31.6" diameter, 10.4" section width, 7.3" section height
275/60/17 = 30" diameter, 10.8" section width, 6.5" section height
you end up either upsizing and inch or downsizing an inch in diamter, and thats advertised difference... either will be fine and not through your speedometer or odometer off if any....
