Removal of paint scratch on plastic side trim?

My mom has a paint scratch on her plastic trim piece from another car. Does anyone have any ideas on how to remove it from this textured gray plastic? (You know, the plastic that is on the sides of the new 4Runners) I've tried a lot of stuff, but nothing has worked so far. Any ideas?

The point of plasitc trim was easy repairs from damage by replacing them. problem is the pieces are not cheap. basically you'd have to get a color matched paint and touch it in the scratch. local clear coat and buff the crap out of it. This can hide it but you'll always see it if you look for it. Otherwise you'd have to either repaint the entire panel or replace the panel
