Red 4runner + Black Steelies + MT/R's

Got the OME suspension on and the Black steelies and MT/R's on today. Looking very forward to getting the black wheels off and the LX wheels on... Just doesn't do it for me...

Hey Brian, are you gonna post any pics of you naked little 4runner? It looks SO different w/ NO LIFT and silver OEM wheels! Get anything else done after I left?

To be honest, the black wheel look is rubbing off on me a little...

The look of your rig is possibly my favorite among the 3rd gens that I've seen. (The color treatment to the front bumper is the perfect touch). I'm of the same opinion as regards the black wheel look, I don't care for it that much.

I'm thinkin of painting up my old stock rims black for winter running. The clear coat on them was already ruined when I bought the rig 4+ years ago so they couldn't look much worse anyway. I'm kinda still on the fence as to whether I want to be a total conformist though. I was working out of Germany for the past few years and thats the big thing over there. Black steelies in winter with all season radials and shiney rims and street meats from mid spring to mid fall. Bama in your case with your particular color of red to my eye the black steelies don't look quite as good as they would against say maybe a guards red or a few other colors. They'd be great for strictly off road use though and the bright shiney ones for more daily use.

When it's for sale and done. I got the skids cleaned and that nasty spare tire, the panhard raised and the garage cleaned. Might do some painting today some time.

You just need to paint your rig BLACK to match the rims!

No "teaser" pics?

LOL, yeah, that's one option... Or just swap the wheels out for the OEM 16"x8" alloys...

LOL.... these things gotta go... 4.25" backspacing doesn't work w/ OME lift and no body lift. can you say RUBBAGE???

The LX wheels are 4.5" BS, so they'll be sucked in closer to the frame by an extra 1/4". That and some pinch weld pounding with my BFH should do the trick until I get the BL from Brian and install it in about 2 weeks...

You know as I was riding into work today .. you'd be surprised how many things you think about when your riding your bike, and the radio is not blasting in your ear ... in any case ... one, I don't like the black steelies on your rig. It seems outplace, I think some polished LC rims would be nice. Keep the functionality, but still look puurrty. Two, stick with a one inch BL, and some fender trimming. Three, you should paint the roof rack as well, or get rid of it, or do something with it. It takes away from the clean lines. Four, Is Brian really going to wheel an LX470 or a LC?

Hope you don't take this as an insult, just some honest constructive critisim. The same I'd expect from you, when I do my crazy ˟˟˟˟ in a few months. I still love that painted bumper though.

Yeah, I was. Sort of a Frankenstrut up front w/ downeys in the back.

LX wheels are happening tomorrow or tues for sure. It will look much better then. I've been debating the 2" or 1" BL. I've already got dibs on the 2" that Brian is taking off, and I've been debating (literally arguing w/ him ) as to whether or not to use it or sell it and get a 1" BL. I'm thinking that I'll also do a trimpacker and top out spacer on each side since the front is about an inch or so lower than the rear anyway. I think getting the front level then a 1" BL would be perfect...

Maybe I'm just crazy but I could've sworn the rear was lower the first time I came by. Of course if you've already swapped out the Tundra setup for the OME then I'm just completely off.

You should get the 1" and sell the 2" dirt cheap cause nobody wants it.

Measuring from the ground to the bottom of the flares, the rear was 1/4" higher on each side w/ a low gas gauge. On full w/ all my normal junk in there, it was withing an eighth of an inch. Very close to level, however, it "looked" like it sagged w/ a full tank. Tape measure didn't think so, but it looked like it...

Do I smell a vulture circling? Still trying to decide. A 1" Ultimate from RB is about $115 or so w/ the G8 Hardware and the Steering Extension. The only thing about the 2", is I'd need to relocate my sliders. W/ a 1", they would be fine. Brain's 2" is the RB Ultimate w/ G8's, Steering Extension, and XF case shifter extension. If I decide to go w/ a 1", you'll see the 2" kit in the for sale section...

For what it's worth, I think you'll likely be happiest with the 1" BL. With 2", you'd be in a whole mess of trouble with the bumper. I "THINK" you can adjust it upwards just enough for the 1" BL without any issues. That said, doesn't Brian have access to a fantastic shop that could take care of it either way?

Lookin good!
