10w40 mobile 1 full synthetic, I found it but?

Good morning, I was looking for a quart of 20w50 full synthetic motorcycle oil for my 955i Triumph the other day to top it off before a long ride, while I was in the local Autozone "I didnt feel like driving to the stealership and they charge $55 for a 3.5 quart bottle" I found full synthetic 10w40 but it is marketed for 4 cycle motorcycles. As far as I know the only difference is this oil has more zync in it for the clutch or so Ive been told. I always ran 10w40 dino lube up until about 15000 miles ago when I switched to the only synthetic I could find which is 10w30, I am not sure if running the 10w40 MC oil would harm my 147000 mile 3.0 or not, let me know what you think, I like the idea of a little heavier oil, I do some slow wheeling in 85 and 90 degree plus temps and just think the heavier oil is a little better I could be wrong though becuase I have never got a good answer! Let me know what you think about the 10w40, it may be the ticket for high mile engines! Or if you know where I can find 10w40 in synthetic for my truck since Ive been told to stay away from the partial synthetics. Thanks again Matt

I don't think it would hurt anything. I used to run Bel-Ray MC oil in a Honda motor with 175k miles.

Another option (a good one, I think) is the M1 0w-40

0w40?

I have never heard of that. I dont know if there is a difference between 10w30 and 10w40 that would make a difference or not. I dont know I just dont want to damage my engine! I think it called for 10w30 in the owners manual but that was 15 years ago and 147,000 miles ago so the better the lube the longer it will last right! I am going to look into the MC oil a little more, I mean if it can handle the extra heat and high revs of a mc then why wouldnt it work great in a low revving dog like my 3.0! ????

I would go with the amsoil 10-40W XL 7500 $5 a quart before using that. It probably wont hurt anything but why substitute?

Thumbs up

I'm with 2wd1stgen on useing the ASOIL. They offer a full synthetic that outperform the competition. They also have what ever weight that you care to run. I use it in everything my street bike my dirt bike and my yota.I use the series 2000 0w-30 in the motor and the series 2000 75w-140 in the trans and diff. It works great. Check it out. www.puresynthetics.com
