how does one check the transfer case fluid..... also how is it filled if low?... sorry.... i've never tampered with the transfer case before....

im experiencing a small leak ..... one drop a day on the driveway.... so im thinking it must be getting pretty low.... want to make sure it doesn't run dry....

You check it and fill it though the same hole. It is sort of like a diff, it has a fill plug and drain plug. You fill it untill it runs out of the fill hole or like the manual says with-in like .5mm of the top of the fill hole or something like crazy like that. Like you could actually get a ruler in there and measure it.

Sorry I don't have any pictures of the plugs but they are at the back of the transfer case and on mine the fill plug is about 1/2 way up on the drivers side of the BACK of the case and it is a hex-head plug. The drain plug is near the bottom of the BACK of the case and is a allen head plug. If you decide to drain the t-case make sure you take the fill plug out before you take the drain plug out just in case you can't get the fill plug loose.

 

Ya use your dipstick. Noooo not that one...Your pinky.
Take the fill plug out and stick your pinky in. If it comes out with oil dripping off the end, the level is good.

 

That is true, at least you know it's real low if you can't get your pinky wet.
