How to Reset Maintenance light? 03 4Runner

I called the dealer the other day becasue the Maintenance light is on (just changed the oil) and wnted to know how to reset. They told me to turn the key off, then hold the odometer reset button and hold while turning the key to the on position.....hold the reset button while doing this for ~ 10 sec and it should go out. We'll I did this but it didn't work.

Does anyone out there know the trick before I call the dealer back for this stupid question. FYI this is on an 03 4 Runner

Look on pages 120 & 121 of your owners manual for the Engine Oil Replacement Reminder Light instructions. The maint light is really an indicator that it's time to change your oil and it gets triggered at 5000 miles since the last reset.

The instructions are pretty much what you dealer told you so I'd try it again to see if it takes this time.

Make sure you have the odometer set to the odomoter reading and not the trip odometers or it will not work.
