Can you put a 4th gen V8 in 3rd generation 4runner??

I am wondering if anyone knows if you can put the 4th generation V8 into a 3rd generation 4runner? Anyone done it, or know anyone who has? I am contemplating if i should buy a supercharger, or just invest a few more bucks and throw the V8 in. Would it be a bolt in mod, or would some fabricating be neccessary?

Thanks!
Ken

Anything can be done......

With that said, I don't know of anyone who has tried. It won't be a bolt in operation and will require extensive fabrication work as well as major electrical modifications...

BTW is all the stuff you listed in your sig, on your 4Runner? If so, then you need to update your avatar......

The new 4.0 V6 would fit much better than the V8. Much easier to just bolt on the supercharger and get the fuel upgrades than swapping motors.

Somebody from Oz fitted a Lexus V8 4.5L into a 2nd gen. I think somebody from NZ also did the same.

I saw the 4-Runner site from OZ with the V-8 in it. Pretty cool. I'll try to find the web site. Seems like the swap was about difficult as a 3.0 to 3.4 swap, which doesn't seem bad.

I would hardly liken the costs associated with a supercharger to the cost of an engine swap on that magnitude.

With Gadget's kit, you end up looking at pretty comparable power numbers, aren't you?

You're also probably adding more weight with the V8, which could negate some or maybe all of the power increases vs. the supercharger.

Better to do the supercharger, unless you've got either awesome fab skills or heaps of spare cash.
