Oil leak? (pics)

Yesterday I was pulling a fairly heavy trailer around town all day - about 80 miles at (4500-5000lbs). At the end of the day I noticed a puddle under the runner. I was pushing the 3.0 pretty hard all day. It looked a little too light to be oil and not really red enough to be ATF. It was coming out of a little hole where the engine connects to the torque converter (pic one). Does anyone know what that hole is? I wiped it up with a rag and watched closely to see where it was coming from and sure enough it was coming out of that hole (pic 2).

I'm hoping someone will tell me that the tranny got too hot and it was just bleeding excess pressure through that hole. Today I kept an eye on it and only a few drops came out all day (?) I'm confused.

Why do you think it was leaking so much more after pulling that trailer? And now only a few drops per day.

change to a heavier oil or a good synthetic 15W40. As long as the "film thickness" of the oil is larger than the gap...no leak.

I had leaks before I changed to synthetic and about 2000K after but then ...one day..
just a leak in the power steering hoses.!!
