I just purchased a new Denso part #471-1141 ac compressor for my '94 pickup. After comparing it to the old one, I'm thinking I have a different setup in the truck that may be aftermarket or not stock.
What is in there is a Tama compressor and the lines attach to the cast body (on the backside) instead of a plate, like the Denso.
I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this, and if I need to return the Denso Compressor. I have also ordered a new dryer and condenser off Rock Auto which have not arrived yet.
I cant seem to find anyone that carries the 'plate / hose connection' that I need for the Denso compressor, if thats all I need to make it work.
Will I need to replave the lines as well? Please see attached photos to see what I'm talking about.
Thanks in advance for any and all responses!
It looks like no one replied yet, so I will give it a go.
You have an aftermarket compressor setup, possibly a complete aftermarket system. The Toyota system (usually port or dealer installed) would have used a Denso compressor.
If I remember correctly, one of the ports did install aftermarket systems instead of the Toyota Denso system, so you may still have an original system from when the truck was new.
Your easiest route is to try and find a direct replacement, otherwise, you will have to find hoses to fit the Denso compressor. Don't forget to replace the receiver/dryer as well!
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I purchased a Denso compressor, dryer and condenser not realizing I had a aftermarket set up. I need a bracket for a Denso compressor and a manifold for the denso compressor and I'm not finding them for under $200.00.
At this point I think I'm going to return everything as its not worth what its costing me to do this.
