1988 22RE Engine Block Crack Repair Update Video

Sup guys, figured I'd post this here. I repaired the 5" long crack in my 22RE about 9 months ago. After 10k miles it is holding up perfectly still. Might be helpful to those who experience this similar common crack on the driver side of the block. Here is the original video showing how I repaired it:

Here is the update video:

Cheers

Why not just weld the crack?

The old Ford Flathead guys use the Irontite stitch weld or similar plugs like you used. It is definitely a good and proper repair. Many of the Flathead race engine builders also add Moroso Ceramic Sealer to further seal any cracks or leaking. Its added to plain water after a complete system flush for a few heat cycles I believe. Users say to follow instructions to the T and it is very effective. Thanks for posting.

Well done.

I tried welding a 1940's era cast iron vise. Incredibly problematic. the best I could do was brazing it using nickel/zinc, and even that outcome pretty much sucked.
