87 pickup stalls when clutch is let up
Hey there! Apologies in advance if this post is in the wrong place, I have browsed through several days looking for an answer to my issue. New though to actually using forums.
Vehicle: 87 pickup, Aisin carb, 4wd, 5 spd manual, 22R
Issue: Truck has sat for 2 years (my grandpa’s farm truck). Purchased truck from grandpa trying to get it running and out of his yard. Was able after much cleaning of carb and new battery, and such to get it running. Great! Now to get it moving is the issue. Driven and owned a lot of manual vehicles, but never seen this before. Clutch in, stick goes in to first. Crank truck, it idles. Go to ease off clutch and give throttle, hear engine rev up, no matter the amount of throttle I give, it stalls as soon as clutch is lifted up.
- crawled under, clutch salve cylinder definitely has a leak, going to O’Reilly to find one, but don’t think that’s all my issue is. Anyone ever seen this? Does the same thing in reverse.
- use the cancel clutch start and it moves
