In Need of a new Radiator ( '88 V6 3.0 4x4 5 Spd Manual)
So, I have an '88 V6 3.0 4x4 5 Spd Manual
Last year, My fan blade exploded, Originally, it was just a small chip out of that large ring of the fan blade that broke, and bent outward, I Had to Cut into it a bit so it wouldn't hit the shroud, Drove it like that for about 5 years. But... the thing only getting More and more brittle, another larger piece cracked, half attached, whipping around the engin bay, colliding with the fan shroud batteries and rezerviour, (Again) and finally just exploding, other Flying pieces broke the Overflow/Reservoir connector on the radiator, and more pieces went into the reservoir as well. I have got a new Stainless steel rezervior ready to install but theres nothing really to connect it to. I cut the rest of the ring of the fan blade off, and was able to balance what's left of the fan blade(s) fairly well, It runs, the radiator and fan cools the engine effectively. (H'yeah, I continue to drive it this way. Ugh!!) But when the truck gets warm, it looks like the radiator is leaking and or the engine is over heating. I'm considering, and have been looking into an ALL-Aluminum Radiator, and will be doing the the Electric fan thing. Currently I just I need to fill the radiator directly a lot more often.
The current radiator is an aftermarket Aluminum one, Not an "All-Aluminum" one, the top and bottom are composite plastic. as was the rezerviour If I could bend up all the little tabs, and just replace the top piece, That might be nice... I don't believe anyone sells just the Radiator Top.... Then Again... An All Aluminum one... Would be Really Nice!
But I only see them for RWD, and nothing for a 4WD Manual Transmission 3vze. I did find one for the 3VZ-FE. How Different would That be? How different is the one for the 4 Cylinder?
Anyone Know What Radiator I should get?
.... Another consideration Though, Drill and tap for 1/8" pipe thread, add a Brass Barb... And Get some more life out of the radiator, then Just do the Electric Fan thing.
Thanks

I second CSF all metal. Toyota’s current oem radiators are plastic tanks with a metal core, and they're very solid. (And not cheap.)
The aftermarket plastic tank radiators are pretty poor(reflected in the very low price).

As said above stay away from the hundred and some dollar plastic, next one I get I will not cheap out, I learned my lesson which I already knew just wasn’t in a spot to spend good coin. Now I am, so when this POS plastic starts leaking again (which it will) I will spare no expense
