New Restoration-Quality Upholstery for our 4runners and trucks!
Hi Everyone,
For the past 6 months i have been developing new seat upholstery for our rigs to replace your beat up, deteriorated seat upholstery with something that looks factory and can be installed using only a set of hog ring pliers and your patience. Right now i am offering seat upholstery for standard 1984-89 4runner/ 1984-88 pickup seats, 1985 Sr5 gray “Vertigo” sets and reproduction roll bar covers. Some of these are IN STOCK NOW, available to ship in the coming week!
Sr5 Sport seats are being patterned now and will be available for order as soon as I decide on the best available material for an original look.
For more information please see the website www.northshoretoyotaproducts.com and feel free to ask any questions, email, text or call. Sr5 Gray Vertigo Standard seats Roll bar cover with padding
Unfortunately, original fabric pattern matches are not to be found. That’s why i’ve spent a lot of time (and still am) finding the closest i can. Yours is second gen and i don’t have patterns for that yet, but yours isn’t bad so what i would do is find a matching gray passenger seat and take the foam and cover for your driver’s seat.
Fantastic work! Now all we need is someone who can recreate the rear and side view mirrors that aren’t completely junk. I’ve had my 95 dlx about 14 years now and countless sets of side mirrors from a variety of brands on Amazon. They’re all junk, never stay in place for adequate vision, and snap off at the slight hint of cold weather. At the moment I’m working out how to fab up mounts for a set of marginally better side by side plastic mirrors I snagged on Amazon. They actually stay in place but mounting them is gonna be tricky at best. Maybe I just break down a buy some older aluminum/stainless style that came on a few of the early pickups, drill holes and rivnut them on.
Have you done the 1st gen sport seat? The seat with the adjustment for lumbar and the side bolsters.
The 85 Sr5 Vertigo has those features also, but yes, i am in the process of patterning the Sport seats right now. I haven’t decided which materials to use but they will be as close to original as I can find. I’ll have them sorted by end of Jan.
Other have asked and i would be happy to do a split bench but i do not have one to pattern from. So, just like if you brought it to a local shop, I would need your cover first. If you want to pursue it, email me at Northshoretoyotaproducts@gmail.com.
Thanks Cory!
Im very happy with the way they are coming out. I am out to prove to people that upholstery is not Voodoo and a DIYer can get great results with just patience and hog ring pliers. And by doing it yourself, you can work on your own timetable, your truck doesn’t have to be down and you can raise the value of your rig by the amount spent at least.
Our local shop quoted me $200 for just one seat base cover for me to install, so that’s what started me down this road. I wanted to see if I could do it myself. Now, i’ve made 15 individual covers, 6 roll bar covers and 2 bikini tops and have some interesting product placements coming up. Stay tuned!
Well I don’t have a split bench, buckets or an SR5, or a 4Runner….wish I did though!!!!! Good news for all you lucky sons of guns!!!! The SR5 fabric looks wonderful!!!
This is how i juiced up the foam when i recovered the seats. If you are thinking about recovering yours, there is a huge payoff for the effort!
I got 1 inch, high-density foam from the local fabric and craft store. It cost about $25 per seat. Cut it down and glue it over the original foam with good contact cement. The seats feel amazing now!
Man, if you could make the sport seats in something close to the factory blue, and sew in the turbo....🤌
To be honest, i don’t think it’s going to happen. The “turbo” embroidery could be replicated but the two-tone material would have to be custom made and there’s not enough demand to support the costs. Sorry to say that.
I should be able to show the first one this week. Stay tuned!
Kinda forgot i posted this as I am out of the country right now but can show the first article i made. Still shopping samples of the best materials and will be able to take orders in January.
