Rostra Cruise Control- 1990 4runner SR5, 5MT.

Finally getting back to my project after a year- can't believe how time flies.
Will be installing a Rostra cruise in the Toy and really haven't seen much for comparable projects in my search. Going to be inventive for sure at the throttle body and servo mounting location. I had the dash out earlier and hopefully prewired correct for VSS out of the gauges, factory clutch release switch, understand the brake wiring is touchy, the Rostra has some kind out output- that will go to the gauge light. Interested in the dipswitch settings- is the VSS sine or square wave, I understand that the engine size may be a choice...being this is a turbo 22RE. Every install seems to be different for vehicle year and engine.

Does your cruise kit use vacuum or electric servo.??
I don't see how any vacuum servo cruise could operate in a boosted machine unless some sort of auxiliary vacuum pump is installed.
I have installed ROSTRA cruises with electric servo in several different cars, but not in any Toyotas.
I like them, especially their wireless control option that does not require any wiring in the steering column

Not like there is a lot of choices for units out there- but yes this is the electric servo type and $$, chose the right hand column stalk control. Briefly considered finding a oe system to install (I like the steering wheel control) but from what I understand the vacume system gave trouble even with stock engines. Lots of highway driving and I use cruise ALOT. In the Honda 6MT the oem cruise automatically re engages afte shifts- I don't think thats the case here.

Note:

All settings are based on 1/8-inch slack in cruise control cable. More slack will cause the cruise control to surge or lose speed once set.

- Blue wire grounded
- Orange wire extended (LED)
- Green NSS wire left in harness
- Square wave is the VSS signal coming out of the speedo gauge? https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...orking-253829/

Any best guesses as to dip switch settings?

Gain sensitivity extra low/low/med/high switch 1,2
Eng/setup timer 8 cyl low/8 cyl high 7,8,9

Throttle cable travel 39mm, Rostra wants 41mm, added one bead (7mm) see how that works.

- Twp switches on the clutch Clutch safety switch (on the firewall side) and Cruise disengagement switch (on the drivers side)- violet wire daisy chained in/out and to neg side of brake switch (green/white), red wire with 4A fuse to hot side of brake (green/red).
- Orange wire to dash cruise light, fingers crossed.
- VSS gray to output from gauges to ecu.

Working on functional position of CC switch, and a clean install pf switched power.

Looking for a proper clutch switch pigtail- this truck was oe auto.

Don't understand the rear anti lock thing- truck doesn't have it- but tapped into the power.
