Ive got a 1989 Toyota pickup (22re) and recently I’ve noticed some pretty loud ticking coming from the engine bay. Don’t really know what it is but it gets louder with higher rpm. Also some light knocking at 1100 rpm but only at that rpm area. Anyone got any ideas of what it could be?

 

The ticking could be the normal injector tick or a loose valve lifter. If they haven't been adjusted in a while, it might be worth looking into.
If the knocking is coming from the valve cover then it could be too tight and the lifter is hitting the inside.
