Using 2nd gen Tacoma mud flaps on an 86 4x4

Hey all, I bought my 86 pickup with no mudflaps. There’s a guy near me selling second gen taco mud flaps for cheap and I’m wondering if anyone has had any success retrofitting newer mud flaps on an older truck. Is it possible? And what did you do? Thanks

The 1st gen 4Runner mudflaps were just flat material that bolted on. the Tacoma mudflaps were molded to to the contour of the fender/wheel opening. So my first thought is they won't work. But the final word would be taking one and holding it up to your fender and checking the fit.
