Two years ago I got this 83 and built it for coon hunting. It came with the L52 five speed manual. It was supposedly built by Marlin Crawler. Last week the main shaft broke. Playing the devil finding a main shaft and the 3rd and 4th gear synchro hub. Finding it just as difficult to find a good L52 core to build. Looking like I might have to switch to the G54 from a newer truck. I don't rock climb, mud run, or rip stumps out of the ground. I just ease along at old man pace hunting hounds on Fort Benning, Georgia. Anyone got an L52?

Can I swap in a G54? I found one close by, with transfer case. I assume I have to move the cross member and get a new drive shaft as well as redrill some places
