1983 Toyota Trauck - Brake light and batter light on

Worthy Toyota Brothers (and Sisters)

I'm new to the YotaTech Forum and this is my first time posting. I have a 1983 Toyota pick up truck 22R that I've had for about 14 years. All original and don't drive it all that much but do drive it occasionally. Recently my brake light and Charge/battery light have come on and won't turn off. Battery is new-ish so I am confident it is not the battery.

All connections are snug and the trucks starts right up with no issues.

Can anyone advise why these lights are on and won't go off?

Any help would be appreciated.

Toyota Paul

On my 91 when my alternator took a poo all my lights were doing weird stuff, what’s your alternator putting out?

Not toos sure, I didn't test it. Just replaced it. Wasn't getting much help here at Yotatech, but I knew my batter was good. All connections were tight and good. Replaced altenator and now I'm good to go. But it was a pain to replace.,

Its an alternator issue. The Battery and brake lights will be illuminated at the same time when charging issues occur. Just had the same issue on mine 91 pickup.
Replacing the alternator fixed the issue.

May be worth a try to keep the bad one and rebuild it for future use....

just to add to this .. as most people dont know
typically what happens , is just the brushes in the alternator wear out .. you usually dont need to replace the whole alternator .
If your handy , and have a soldering iron , you can save yourself a pile of money
